Allan Hacklin's work is in the Whitney's collection. His painting, Harold's Mandible, was shown in the 1969 Annual Exhibition of Paintings, alongside Frankenthaler, Diebenkorn, Baldessari, Twombly, De Kooning, Johns, Kelly, Motherwell, Rauschenberg, Warhol, and Ruscha. 

He was 26 when he showed among those noted above. Betty Parsons showed his work, Polly Snowqueen, the painting that now belongs to the Whitney. Allan Stone purchased some of his earlier paintings, which were done when he was 19. This is one of them. 

Hacklin grew up in Harlem. Attended Pratt. He taught at CalArts, a school close to my heart, and was Associate Dean there in his last year. RISD, Cooper Union, and most recently the Director at Leroy Nieman Center for Print Studies at Columbia University.
